Covid-19 Pandemic

In response to the risks associated with the Covid-19 worldwide pandemic we have suspending our weekly meetings with immediate effect. The safety and wellbeing of our members, their families and the wider population must take priority. We hope to resume our meetings soon.

We have launched an online appeal to support local charities looking after some of our most vulnerable in our community. Click here for details.

If you supported or took part in the Lincoln Santa Fun Run or the Lincoln Sausage Festival in 2019 we wanted to say a big thankyou. The money you helped us raise means that The Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia has been able to provide much needed donations to some key charities during this emergency period these include The Lincoln Foodbank, Lincoln Community Larder (food bank), EDAN Lincs (women’s refuge and domestic abuse support), YMCA Nomad Centre (Homeless), Marie Curie and MacMillan cancer care. At this time we obviously don’t know what form these much loved Lincoln events will take in 2020, but rest assured we will keep everyone posted (here and through our Facebook and Twitter messages).

Thanks to the hard work and sewing skills of Colonia Rotarians, family and friends we are pleased to have been able to provide the Lincoln and surrounding Ambulance station crews with around 200 uniform wash bags so that staff do not have to travel home in their work uniform after a shift. A special thanks also for a fabulous response from the Bassingham W.I. – 12 members have made 100 of the 200 bags. A further consignment is being prepared for distribution to local care homes. It’s a modest contribution to a huge effort we know but every bit helps.

This is a request for fabric (either new or otherwise), to be sewn into scrub bags for carers resulted in quite a socially distanced journey. E.H. Thorne (Beehives) Ltd kindly donated rolls of bee fabric & the team at the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia & the ladies from Bassingham W.I. got to work.

In all, almost 200 bags have so far been made & delivered to Willan House in Stainfield, The Cathedral Care Home, Lincoln, St. Lukes in Scothern, Chestnut Care Home in Bucknall & Ruckland House in Lincoln. The original organiser is now in touch with a county wide care agency & there are requests from care homes in Skegness, Louth & Grantham. If you would like to get involved please contact us at:
