The Great Australian Breakfast

On Sunday 26th January 2020 we resurrected the Lincoln tradition of a Great Australian Breakfast on Australia Day. The event held at the Lincoln Hotel raised £2,500 for people and wildlife affected by the unprecedented wild bushfires in Australia in 2020.

We are very grateful to the Lincoln Hotel for hosting the event and all the hotel staff for their really hard work.

All funds raised have been sent to our rotary colleagues at the Rotary Club of Port Lincoln, Australia. Which means we know how it will be used and there are no administrative fees or third parties involved. We have requested that the money is split 50:50 between affected wildlife and impacted people (including firefighters).

Thankyou to everyone (over 200) who came along to support us and make donations. Thankyou also to Nettleham Live who donated the proceeds from Saturday’s folk night.

Message from Tony Stockham vice president of the Rotary Club of Port Lincoln (RCPL) in Australia. “I am not sure if you have received any info regarding your great effort in raising money to support my fellow South Aussies in the bushfire areas:  RCPL via myself contacted Blaze Aid on Kangaroo Island and the Adelaide Hills Koala Rescue Inc(AHKR).  Blaze Aid is an organisation that operates Australia wide to assist people in bushfire areas by providing materials to rebuild fences, clean up emotional support and co-ordinates volunteers to assist https://blazeaid.com.au· AHKR operates in the Adelaide Hills (including Currency Creek) and as their name suggests is heavily involved in all things Koala https://www.1300koalaz.com/·  The RCPL has also donated a further $1500(AUD) to your fantastic fundraising.”

We ran the event again in 2022.

We are once again very grateful to the Lincoln Hotel for hosting the again and to all the wonderful hotel staff for their hard work and smiling faces.
